  • The AIG Bailout Scam

While the majority of the media keeps telling us how complicated the financial crisis is and how mere mortals dare not try to understand it; Matt Taibbi's latest article, How Wall Street Insiders Are Using the Bailout to Stage a Revolution, provides the concerned citizen with an informative, entertaining and understandable look into how Washington and Wall Street have bamboozled Joe Taxpayer out of trillions of dollars. Anyone interested in understanding what's happening to this country needs to read this article! • Maternity Leave (Is the U.S. a civilized country?)

My wife is pregnant and would like to take three months of maternity leave after the baby is born. Unfortunately, she does not have a year of time as a permanent employee, she was a temp for a year before being hired fulltime last June. Consequently, she is not eligible for the full 12 weeks of maternity leave according to New York state law. A human resources official told her she will only be able to take 6 weeks of leave. Needless to say she is crestfallen.

What is wrong with this country? We constantly hear about family values from our politicians yet our government only provides for a measly 3 months of unpaid maternity leave. Many other countries including Canada and France provide their citizens with over a year of paid leave! When will the United States become a civilized country like the rest of the developed world?

  • Wall Street Vampires

Is it any surprise that the ghouls at CitiGroup get another 20 billion, no questions asked, while the Big Three are eaten alive. The financial industry, which produces nothing but poison, has already received well over 7 trillion from the government, but they don't need a plan to be shown the money only an outstretched hand. I guess the Big Three deserve to be ignored because mostly the victims work for them. Not the financial vampires who have produced nothing but debt and disaster for this country. The auto workers produce real things that real people need. The vampires on Wall Street produce nothing but lies and misery as they live off the blood of the nation. It is demoralizing to realize that our government has sided with the vampires yet again.

This is a call to arms. Do you hear that giant sucking sound? That's the sound of the nation's wealth being sucked up by the super rich. Make no mistake about it the Wall Street vampires have their fangs deep into our necks and they are drinking us dry. It's a fucking disgrace and if you're not angry then you are already dead. How can we sit defenseless as our nation is bankrupted by a coven of bloodsuckers? It's time for the meek to inherit the earth. We need to start defending ourselves against the Count Draculas attacking us from their castles on Wall Street. Power to the people!

  • The Raw Deal!

Thanks to President Bush and Treasury Secretary Henry "hanky panky" Paulson the American public is being shafted yet again. Compare the deal our government cut with the banksters versus the one engineered by Gordon Brown in the UK. In the UK Brown got a 12% equity stake in the banks where the British government injected money, seats on the boards of those banks, voting rights, and a guarantee in writing that the banks would use the money to start lending again. Hanky panky got a 5% equity stake, no seats on the boards, no voting rights, and no written guarantees ensuring the banks would start lending. Surprise! Surprise! The banks didn't start lending and we are in an even deeper hole than we were before the bailout. You would think before giving the banksters over $250 billion, in taxpayer money, Paulson would have at least gotten a written promise guaranteeing that the banks would start lending. Paulson is either a complete cynic or  completely incompetent. I lean towards complete cynic. The Bushies have played this game before and once again they are betting the American public is not well informed enough to spot a con job when they see one. Let's hope that's not true and that public notices this latest heist courtesy of the Bush regime.
